Spring 2010

Spring has arrived at Boma Boers and we were blessed with some very unseasonable temperature.  Actually got so spoiled with those summer like temperatures that when we went back the more normal temps for April we were cold!
Babies have been arriving at a fairly regular pace since March 30th.  Our first kids out of our new buck Outback Boers BoDiddle *Enobled* are here and we are very pleased with them so far.
We will have several kids for sale along with a few adult animals once weaning time is here.

Come on Spring!!!!

Has spring sprung?  It sure seems so here in NY this morning, but in reality we realize it is still only March and anything can happen yet!  We are excitedly awaiting the birth of our spring kids, which will be "hitting the ground" at the end of March and throughout April and May, with the majority of the herd due in April.  Our kids should be awesome this year with several of our does, including our three very best does, bred to our new ennobled buck Bo Diddle.  The balance of the herd are bred to our other two boys, Monster, and Powerhouse, who have produced really nice kids for us in the past. The pregnant mommas have all received their necessary immunizations, and their prego bellies are growing rapidly!
We will keep the blog updated as time allows once kids are being born.  We will have several kids and adult does for sale, so check back at your convenience to see what's up or contact us via e-mail.  We are on Facebook now also so follow us there too if you like.  We do have 3 or 4 bred does we would sell at this time as we could use some extra space

Paint Me Proud bucklings (4 weeks old)

Paint Me Proud's bucklings are a month old now.  We have been pleased with the inquiries that we have had from interested buyers for these boys.  Proud has been a great momma, and although she was very protective and suspicious of us after her kids were born, we have earned her trust and she knows we have her and her little ones best interest at heart.  We even let her and her little fellas out to romp around the barn while we are doing chores.  If these boys are still available at weaning time we will post them on the for sale page of our website.  We will likely wean them at apprx 10-12 weeks old.   .

Boer does temporary escape

Well, winter is definitely well underway.  We are so thankful for our heated water tubs.  Sure makes winter chores much easier than having to knock out ice from water buckets as we have been known to do years ago.  The animals are handling the weather well and the mature does are starting to look quite pregnant.
Forgetting to latch a gate gave one large pen of girls a little free roaming time one afternoon last week.  They seemed to be enjoying themselves so much that Paul decided to let them explore for a while before heading them back to their barn enclosure.  Fortunately, they weren't out long enough before we were aware to get themselves into any serious trouble! Seems we always have those routine things that we need to do at the end of chore time, but every once in a while we forget something; like plugging the electric fences back in, latching a gate, or turning off a light switch.

Proud's bucklings at 6 days old.

Boys are doing great!  We are really pleased with them so far, although only six days old, they are looking awesome!  Proud is a really good momma.
